2.Most of these writers also own their own web site.  It is important for them to gain as many backlinks to their web site as possible because this is something that the Search Engines use whenever they are ranking a web site.  By submitting articles to these article directories they are able to get the backlinks that they need.

Since these article directories are obviously going to be filled with articles, many web marketers also tend to believe that whenever they need an article for their web site, they should simply go to one of these directories.  Unfortunately, this is not a good idea because while you are able to freely publish any of these articles on your web site, you must leave the author’s bio attached.  Here in this bio the author has written a few sentences that will entice visitors to their site.  Since this bio has to remain attached, whenever you place it on your web site you will actually be sending visitors to your competitor’s web site.

Another thing that you must take into consideration whenever you choose to use articles from an article directory is that there are other people who will also be using this article as well.  By doing this you will find yourself caught in Google’s duplicate content filter and thus be penalized by having your ranking in this Search Engine drop.  This is something that you are not going to want to have to deal with, which is why you should write your own articles instead.
